Newcastle University's LeanIX Journey from Data to Insights

This is an overview of how the Enterprise Architecture team at Newcastle University embarked on a significant journey, collaborating across the University Business and IT units to capture data, perform analysis and provide insights to senior stakeholders responsible for governing our Technology Portfolio.

This effort, which identified business capabilities and applications that support the student journey and assessed their criticality and fitness, laid the groundwork for a digital transformation programme.

The collaborative spirit that drove this initiative not only supported the University Leadership in decision-making but also brought significant benefits to the student digital experience and reduced technical debt. This work was done against a background of forming a new team, taking our first steps to practice maturity and demonstrating the impact Enterprise Architecture methods can bring to a large complex University.
